Objectives

• Establish high standards in technical execution, team organization, and leadership.
• Mentor team members in time management, prioritization, and personal development.
• Promote research and innovation to keep technology and processes competitive.
• Continuously improve code quality and engineering best practices.
• Build and maintain a cohesive and motivated team with a clear technical vision.
• Collaborate in recruitment processes for developers, team leads, and architects.
• Coordinate effectively with other technical and project leadership roles.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all backend development matters.
• Conduct regular 1:1 meetings to monitor team member progress and well-being.
• Lead and facilitate team meetings, ensuring clear action items and accountability.
• Define and monitor the team’s short- and long-term objectives.
• Manage team schedules, including vacations, leaves, and resource planning.

Team Development

• Identify and address training needs through internal, external, or cross-functional programs.
• Define individual development goals and career paths tailored to each team member.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide actionable feedback.
• Assess team growth needs and plan future hiring accordingly.
• Oversee and optimize the onboarding experience for new hires.

Planning & Coordination

• Organize, prioritize, and define tasks for the team effectively.
• Ensure proper backlog grooming and task alignment with project deadlines.

Quality & Process Improvement

• Conduct code and deliverable reviews to maintain high quality.
• Promote efficient workflows, processes, and the use of appropriate tools.
• Guide the team in adopting architectural and coding best practices.

Strategic and Technical Involvement

• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
• Provide hands-on support in resolving complex technical issues.
• Actively contribute to technical design and production-ready code when needed.

• 5+ years of backend development experience using PHP and/or Typescript.
• 3+ years of experience working on backend systems in production.
• 2+ years building high-availability applications in AWS.
• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and principles (SOLID, KISS, DRY).
• Experience with Clean Architecture, event-driven systems, and serverless design.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Desirable qualifications

• Previous experience managing development teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and DevOps environments.
• Proficiency in technical English.
